The honest answer is that rewiring timescales vary. A small empty flat can move quickly. A lived-in house with full occupancy, solid walls, limited access and a long list of extras will take longer. The same applies in commercial settings, where out-of-hours working, business continuity and testing requirements can add time even when the installation itself is straightforward.
How long does rewiring take in a typical property?
For a typical domestic full rewire, many projects fall somewhere between 3 days and 10 working days. A one-bedroom flat may be completed in a few days if access is good and the job is limited to the electrical installation. Second fix may only take a day or two on a smaller property, but larger installations naturally take longer.
Testing and certification
Testing is essential. Each circuit needs to be inspected and tested to confirm it is safe, correctly installed and suitable for service. There may also be additional infrastructure to consider. Power is only part of the picture in modern buildings.
